Straight answers to what people ask before they give a website their photos. bpixel is part of bstack, made and run by one person: me, Matias Barragan. The legal version is the Privacy Policy.

Does it upload my images?

No. Your browser does the converting, on your device. HEIC photos are decoded by code that ships with the page, so nothing is sent anywhere, and you can check it: open your browser's network tab while you convert.

There is one exception, and only you can turn it on. If you sign in and turn on Save to my account, the images you download are also saved to your account. The top of the page says Saving to your account while that is on.

What is stored, and where

For guests, nothing. Your browser remembers whether you picked light or dark. With saving on, each saved image goes to Tigris storage under your account, and its name, size, width, height and date go to a database at Neon. An account holds up to 50 MB. Images stay until you delete them in My images or at bstack.cc/account.

Location and camera data

Photos often carry where they were taken and which phone took them. bpixel removes that from every new file unless you turn the switch off, and then it copies the data over from JPG and HEIC photos.

How bpixel makes money

It doesn't. bpixel is free and stays free. Later I plan an optional paid bstack Pro for things that cost money to run, like more room in your account. Nothing you can do today will move behind it. There are no ads, and I never sell your data.

No AI

bpixel has no AI in it. It changes only what you set in the converter.

Is it open source?

Not today. If that changes, this page will say so. Questions go to mati@barragan.com.py.
